FOODS we Should AVOID! ;) Little by Little we Get There

  • Dairy Products: Milk (lets replace it with Almond, rice or coconut Milk)
  • Fast Food - A hamburger here, a bucket of fried chicken there, and fast food rapidly turns into a habit. Unfortunately, the health consequences of regular fast food consumption are significant. Becoming overweight or obese is the most obvious risk, but being fat isn't just a cosmetic concern. Overweight and obesity put you at risk for a host of other problems including diabetes, heart disease, cancer, stroke and infertility. Additionally, scientists suspect there may be a correlation between fast food and mental health. To protect yourself, consider packing a lunch instead of eating out. If you are concerned about the damage a fast food diet may have done to your body, ask your physician for a full physical and talk to him about changing your lifestyle.
  • Yogurt: Replace it with Almond Milk or Cottage Cheese for lower Cholesterol
  • Artificial Sweeteners: Lets use the most Natural flavor of things, or Brown sugar for recipes. Agave for Cold Tea? Any Fruit to add to sweeten our recipes
  • Nuts have heart-healthy fats, but they’re also high in calories: 1 handful (about 1 ounce) of oil-roasted mixed nuts has 175 calories; 3 handfuls have 525. Cut out nuts altogether and save more than 500 calories. Can’t resist ’em? Eat pistachios: 2 handfuls are just 159 calories

  • Alcohol, Tequila? Whiskey? Too many calories, too much Sugar and your body doesn't really digest it well. Plus no beneficial for Heart conditions. Instead RUN IT OFF! Or drink just a Glass or 2 of RED WINE for Women to prevent Cancer. Men, look for hard liquor low in calories, just one zip per day.
  • Limit salad toppings-A big salad might seem healthy, but all those goodies on top can make it more calorie-laden than lasagna or fettuccine Alfredo.
  • Eat Less Pasta- One cup of pasta is just 220 calories. But typical dinner portions at restaurants can be as much as 480% larger than that 1 cup, according to New York University research.
  • Ask to have your food cooked with a little stock instead of oil, or order steamed or poached entrées: you’ll save 124 calories per tablespoon of oil.

OTHER TIPS! Ways to Cut 500 Calories a Day

  • Your skinnier friends are probably fidgeters, who burn up to 350 calories a day just by tapping their feet or being restless.
Try it for a few days. Walk around while you’re on the phone, or tap out a tune with your hands or feet (in the privacy of your own office, of course). In fact, do a couple of swaps a day and you can drop 10 pounds in 5 weeks!
  • Dont Eat in Front of the TV. Instead, eat at the table, and trade 1 hour of TV for a casual walk. Together, that’s 527 calories burned.
  • GET ENOUGH SLEEP- Burn 500 Calories by sleeping more than 7 hours everyday.

*Pistachios-Pistachios are packed with plenty of health benefits. Full of fiber, protein and healthy fats, they can help you stay full and stop overeating.

*Pine Nuts-High in polyunsaturated fats, pine nuts may help you burn calories at a higher rate even when you’re not very being active

*Hard-boiled eggs with sriracha sauce- To improve thyroid function—the gland manages growth and metabolism—look no further than a low-calorie, low-fat hard-boiled egg

*Edamame with sea salt “Fiber is the magic ingredient when you’re trying to lose weight—it slows digestion and helps you feel full.

*Chia Bars-Not only are chia seeds rich in omega-3 fatty acids and iron, but they also help weight loss by absorbing sugar and stabilizing blood sugar levels.

GLUTEN FREE

If you’re burdened with health problems and are struggling to lose weight, it may be a good move to begin subtracting gluten and grain products from your diet as a precautionary measure.

Diet assessment helps gain needed insight as to what may be going on with any particular person. In many cases, the simple subtraction of gluten (or wheat products, in general) from one’s lifestyle is a great way to see if any health complications clear up. In some cases, it can make a huge difference.

But simply removing gluten is not enough!

Once gluten is taken out of the picture, substitutions must be made. Making sure that you’re making the correct choices.

If a person decides to make the transition toward a gluten-free life, many foods then become unavailable. It’s confusing! You don’t want to jump into such a lifestyle without having a solid platform by which to grow, and this is where lifestyle coaching and metabolic advising can help.

GLUTEN FREE INFO

Wheat Belly by William Davis, MD began flying off bookstore shelves in 2011, millions of people began to realize that gluten, itself, may be the root cause to their many health issues.
Gluten-related symptoms can affect a person in a myriad of ways. With symptoms ranging from depression and brain fog to irritating skin rashes and painful digestive-tract issues, people are removing gluten from their diets for varied reasons.
Whether you are removing gluten from your diet because you:
  • Know that you have Celiac Disease (autoimmune disease).
  • Know that you have a wheat allergy.
  • Have discovered that you have a Non-Celiac Gluten Sensitivity (NCGS) by removing gluten from your diet and watching symptoms disappear.
  • Suspect that you are or could be NCGS and are starting an elimination diet to self-test.
To maximize those benefits and your overall sense of well-being, we want to ensure you go about removing gluten the smart way!
It can be tricky at first…
While it is becoming increasingly more common and easy to remove gluten from your diet, one topic that is going largely unaddressed is HOW one should transition toward a “gluten-free” lifestyle.

EXERCISE AT HOME

I believe that every second counts when it comes to improving your fitness level. Admittedly, walking an extra five minutes a day is not going to get you through a marathon. The real aim with getting people active is to build confidence and gently ease your body into movement. This comes with the hope that a little bit of extra activity will eventually lead to more. The feeling of accomplishment and joy that comes from making it to the top of a flight of stairs without being breathless may not seem like a big milestone to you if you’re an avid exerciser. For someone who’s typically inactive, it’s a huge accomplishment and a wonderful step toward attaining an improved sense of wellness.
For today, lets keep it simple and work using number of repetitions as your guide. I’ve learned through experience that great results can be obtained when you get into the habit of doing things right from the start. I love to teach basic movement patterns and have people get confident achieving a set number of repetitions in their own time with no focus on the clock. This beginner’s workout will include doing the 5 most basic exercises in repetitions.
When you practice executing good form for each rep, you’re getting the maximum benefits from that exercise, and you’ll be working your joints and muscles in the way they were designed to move. It can feel a little bit slow and sometimes even boring to do things right, but the important things in life tend to be the least interesting! I assure you that once you get comfortable with the basics, you can race against the clock and add in more dynamic movement patterns. The 5 beginner’s workout moves I’m going to talk you through can be progressed into advanced moves.

Not just for beginners

If you’re reading this and are past the basic stage with your personal fitness, let me tell you that even the pros go back and focus on the basics to rebuild their foundation every few months. Consider taking a day to slow things down, focus on your breathing and body posture.

3 sets of classic moves

http://www.discovergoodnutrition.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/EN-Herbalife-Infographic-Squat.jpgThe aim of a foundation workout is to perfect your form. Take your time, listen to your body and try to perform all sets. Just know that if your form starts to suffer, then stop and rest before continuing. Foundation workouts are about movement confidence, and strengthening essential muscles and tendons. I see this phase as one that sets you up for future workouts.
Perform between 12-16 repetitions of each move. Rest for 60 seconds in between each set (a set is once you have completed 12-16 repetitions of the 5 moves). Aim to do 3 sets.
Squats: This is the basic movement that works your glutes (one of the largest muscles in the body), legs and stabilizers in your back and feet.

Modified Push up: This is called a total body exercise because it literally works all of your major muscle groups. It’s especially great for core strength, and the chest and back.
How to do a LungeLungesLunges are simply a step forward and a step back. A lunge can be done in many ways and is great for learning balance, developing leg strength and working your hip flexors that are an important muscle of the core.

Crunches: Performing crunches is great a great way to work the abdominal muscles.
Hamstring bridge: This exercise works your core muscles and your hamstrings, it is great for working on your balance and pelvic floor muscles.
Work slowly on each move focusing on your breathing and counting your reps. You don’t want to work to failure with a foundation workout, so aim to complete a minimum of 12 reps. If you can’t complete 12 in good form, make a note of how many you can do and start working towards getting to 12 reps. This may take you a week or 2-3 weeks if you haven’t worked out in while.
Repeating this workout 2-3 times a week in addition to your daily activities will help you slowly progress your muscular strength and control. Next week I will show you how you can advance the basics and use timing to progress these exercises into a calorie torching routine. Remember to have fun with this beginner’s workout.

KIDNEY CLEANSING HERBS

1. Chanca Piedra

Chanca piedra, or “stone breaker,” is a favorite in South America for supporting the kidneys and clinical trials have confirmed the plant’s effectiveness. It’s common in the region and its widespread use has earned it a positive reputation in Ayurvedic medicine as a helpful herb for kidney, bladder, and liver health.

2. Goldenrod

Goldenrod was used extensively among many Native American tribes for promoting urinary tract health. Research has found that the herb tones the urinary tract and is helpful for detoxifying the kidneys. [3]

3. Hydrangea Root

Hydrangea root was popular among Native Americans and early settlers, both of whom used the plant for promoting kidney and bladder health. Hydrangea root acts as a solvent and is thought to smooth the jagged edges of kidney stones. Hydrangea root also appears to help the body properly use calcium, an action that may be helpful for discouraging kidney stones from forming in the first place.

4. Horsetail

Horsetail is a common weed with diuretic properties; it’s helpful for increasing urine output to flush the kidneys and urinary tract. It’s also an antioxidant and offers that realm of benefits to the kidneys and renal system. [5] Whether consumed as a tea or in a capsule, horsetail is a great herb to add to your diet!

5. Celery Root

Both the root and seeds of celery have been used for centuries as a natural diuretic. What positive feature do diuretics have? They can help your body eliminate toxins by increasing urine output. Celery root has long been considered a stimulating tonic for the kidneys as it contains nutrients like potassium and sodium.

6. Gravel Root

Also known as Joe Pye weed, gravel root has a long history of use by Native Americans and early American colonists for promoting kidney and urinary health. Its effectiveness may be partly due to its euparin content — a solvent with potent activity against harmful organisms. [6] This may explain why many believe it’s effective at discouraging infections.

7. Uva-Ursi

Also called “bearberry,” uva-ursi has been used by many cultures. It’s an astringent that can soothe and tone the urinary tract and research has also found evidence to support its traditional use for cleansing the kidneys.

8. Marshmallow Root

As a soothing herb, marshmallow root may calm the tissues of the urinary tract. It’s also a gentle diuretic that encourages urination.

9. Dandelion root

Often mistaken as an annoying weed with no useful purpose, dandelion is actually loaded with benefits — both the leaf and the root. [9] Dandelion root, specifically, is a diuretic and promotes waste elimination.

10. Parsley

A favorite herb among chefs, parsley is an aromatic, flavorful herb commonly used in herbal medicine. As a diuretic, it’s helpful for reducing the build up of toxins in the kidneys and entire urinary tract.

TIPS & FOOD FOR HAIR TO GROW FASTER

hairGrowth-1

HERBALIFE has tablets that will cover all those vegetables and nutrients that your body needs, when you are not able to eat all the veggies that you should. Although I reccomend this as a SUPPLEMENT not a replacement. Since you should eat your veggies and based your diet on protein & raw food. Biotin, multivitamins, Aloe, Tea, fruits and veggies, Protein-based Meals, drinking 8-10 bottles of water day, and Cell-U-Loss (herbalife product) will help you tremendously in changing the appearance of your hair, nails, skin and provides you with a different energy. NUTRITION IS THE BASIS OF ALL. Balanced life is possible if you make it work!

Salmon:

This fish is loaded with the strong hair supporters like Vitamin D and protein, but it also contains omega-3 fatty acids that promote hair growth by keeping your scalp healthy.

2. Yellow Peppers:

Yellow bell peppers have nearly five and a half times more vitamin C than oranges (341 milligrams, as opposed to 63). This is good news for your locks since vitamin C is an antioxidant that strengthens the hair shaft and hair follicles, as well as prevents breakage.

3. Oysters:

Zinc deficiency has been noted to cause hair loss and poor scalp conditions and oysters are loaded with zinc — just three ounces contain 493 percent of your daily value. But not just any oysters will do: Steer clear of the ones caught in the Gulf of Mexico, which may contain unusually high levels of Cadmium due to the 2010 BP oil spill.

4. Eggs:

Eggs are an excellent source of those aforementioned omega-3s, and they are also contain biotin (which many people trying to grow their hair take in supplement form). But, just so you’re aware, it’s not the egg white that will make your hair long and beautiful, it’s the yolk. Eating too many egg whites can actually block the absorption of biotin into the body, causing a depletion of this micronutrient.

5. Sunflower Seeds:

Just a few little seeds can supply you with an abundance of vitamin E, which will enhance blood flow to the scalp and promote faster hair growth.

6. Sweet Potatoes:

These are loaded with beta carotene, the precursor for vitamin A that not only promotes a healthy scalp but promotes hair growth. But choose foods loaded with beta carotene over supplementing with high doses — like over 2500 milligrams — of vitamin A from retinol since it can be toxic at very high levels.

7. Avocados:

Due to their high concentration of essential fatty acids naturally found in skin cells (which help to keep your skin smooth and supple), avocados are an age-old beauty secret. When topically applied to the hair and scalp, they have the added ability to stimulate collagen and elastin production. Mix a little avocado with sour cream (which contains lactic acid to help exfoliate dead skin and clean up buildup on the scalp) and apply to your hair and scalp for about ten minutes before washing it off.

8. Almonds:

These nuts will make your hair grow faster and thicker due to their high biotin content. One cup contains nearly one-third of your daily requirement. You should be able to see the results in a month or two of adding them to your diet.

COLORS OF THE VEGETABLES AND FRUITS

The variety in colors of Vegetables and Fruits is very important for health maintenance. When we have a plenty variety of antioxidants, this will help us to slow the process of the free radicals (aging process). It also reduces the risk of common diseases.

A color-coded system can help consumers change dietary patterns to include more fruits and vegetables by including one serving from each of the seven color groups each day as shown in the table below.
COLORPHYTOCHEMICALSFRUITS AND VEGETABLES
RedLycopeneTomatoes and tomato products such as juice, soups, and pasta sauces
Red PurpleAnthocyanins and PolyphenolsGrapes, blackberries, red wine, raspberries, blueberries
OrangeAlpha and Beta- CaroteneCarrots, mangos, pumpkin
Orange – YellowBeta-Cryptoxanthin and FlavonoidsCantaloupe, peaches, tangerines, papaya, oranges
Yellow – GreenLutein and ZeaxanthinSpinach, avocado, honeydew melon
GreenGlucosinolates and IndolesBroccoli, bokchoi, kale
White – GreenAllyl sulfidesLeeks, garlic, onion, chives
The U.S. National Academy of Sciences has identified about 35 plant foods that can reduce disease risks. Foods and herbs having these activities include garlic, soybeans, cabbage, ginger, licorice root, and the umbelliferous vegetables (including carrots, celery, coriander, parsley, and parsnips) [5]. Additional foods with preventive activity include onions, flax, citrus, turmeric, cruciferous vegetables (broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, and cauliflower), tomatoes and sweet peppers, brown rice, whole wheat, oats, barley, various herbs (such as mints, rosemary, thyme, oregano, sage, and basil), cucumber, cantaloupe, and berries.[7,8]

ALIMENTOS CANCERÍGENOS QUE NO DEBEMOS COMER

¿No crees?

 3. Embutidos y Carnes Procesada

Tips to LIVE a Well Balanced Life:

It seems like we constantly seek for quick fixes and ways to mask the symptoms so we can keep on going, not losing an ounce of PRODUCTIVITY. It seems we have forgotten the Wisdom of the ages that good health is not just the absence of disease, but involves healthy lifestyle, healthy mental attitude, and healthy ways of relating to all living beings and nature.
  1. Take care of and nurture yourself. You cannot accomplish anything if you're unhealthy. Get plenty of rest, exercise and eat properly. Many people think they can burn the candle at both ends, eat junk food, get very little exercise, and still function efficiently. You may be able to get away with this for sometime, but at some point you will fall. Burnout is a possibility. You may want to set aside time everyday for an activity that you enjoy, such as walking , working out, spiritual connection or listening to music. Or, allow yourself to unwind by reading, meditating or taking a nice hot bath.
  2. Know what your priorities are.
Balance doesn't mean do everything you can. Examine your values and decide what's important to you, then set your boundaries. You may be in the process of building a career, starting a family or going to school. Depending on what stage you're at in your life, your focus and energies will be different. Try not to become overwhelmed by juggling too many big projects in your life at once. Maybe planning a wedding is not a good idea when you're studying for the bar exam. Nor,is starting a family when you are unsure about your career direction, or relationship status. Not knowing what you want and trying to do everything at once can be a recipe for disaster instead of the road to leading a well balanced life. Try not to bite off more than you can chew.

  3. Create an efficient mindset.
Be organized and plan ahead. Take time at the beginning of each week to assess what needs to be done. Make a to-do list for upcoming appointments, exams to write or study for, or meetings to attend, exercise time, shopping lists etc. Be sure to assign recreation and quality time for yourself and your family as well. Taking time to connect with family and friends will recharge your batteries and make you more efficient. A balance means to always do what you need to do and what you should do for yourself and to enjoy others, while maintaining organization and not over scheduling it.

  4. Expect the unexpected.
Rather than get stressed and upset, allow yourself to roll with the punches when something you have no control over happens. Stuff happens. We've all experienced the unexpected. If you accept that anything can happen at any time, it's less likely it throw you off your stride when it does. Be able to adjust your game plan. Analyze, look for solutions, Modify and Accept it with Positivity.
Also there will be times when achieving balance may not be possible. For instance, You may have circumstances that cannot wait and it takes a lot of your time. When that happens, do whatever it takes and when things go back to normal take time to refresh and rejuvenate yourself.
  5. Maintain a positive mental attitude.
Begin each day with the intention of making the best and most of it. It may not always go as planned, but it can go more smoothly if you put it in Perspective. Part of living a well-balanced life is learning how to deal with adversity, unforeseen events and uncertainty. If you practice not letting things get to you, you will not only learn to live a well balanced and less stressful life, you will learn to live in and savor the MOMENTS. Once you've done everything you can within your control, let your life unfold. Be prepared for the future, but don't worry about it. “The secret of health for both mind and body is not to mourn for the past, not to worry about the future, or not to anticipate troubles, but to live the present moment wisely and earnestly.”  ~Siddartha Guatama Buddha
While we can't anticipate and plan for everything in our lives, we can decide how, where and when to concentrate our energies. This may require some critical thinking and problem solving, but in the end it will lead to much less stress and a well balanced life.
