COLORS OF THE VEGETABLES AND FRUITS

The variety in colors of Vegetables and Fruits is very important for health maintenance. When we have a plenty variety of antioxidants, this will help us to slow the process of the free radicals (aging process). It also reduces the risk of common diseases.

A color-coded system can help consumers change dietary patterns to include more fruits and vegetables by including one serving from each of the seven color groups each day as shown in the table below.

10 Secrets of Longevity- By Michael Scozzari Newsletter

10 Secrets of Longevity
Deepak Chopra, M.D.

Dr Deepak Chopra prescribes 10 simple rules for ageing with health and
happiness in his "most optimistic book" Ageless Body, Timeless Mind - A
Quantum alternative to growing old. Here's an interpretation:
1. Intake fresh food, eat frugally, drink wholesome liquids, abstain from
stimulants and sedatives, and have a bowel movement once a day.
2. Maintain a high level of personal hygiene, get plenty of fresh air,
sunlight and rest, have enjoyable leisure time, satisfying hobbies.
3. Exercise, meditate, practice balanced refined breathing (pranayam) and
yoga, listen to the body's signal of comfort and discomfort.
4. Work for a happy marriage, long-term relationship, have ability to
laugh easily and to make friends and keep close friends.
5. Choose a congenial occupation, go on vacation every year, be optimistic
about the future, feel financially secure and live within means.
6. Develop an easygoing personality, cultivate nonviolent behavior, have
reverence for life.
7. Live in temperate climate, enjoy a reasonable sex life, and get proper
medical attention in case of illness.
8. Live in the present - accept what comes your way, appreciate it, learn
from it and let go. Resisting the natural flow of things causes negative
emotions.
9. Relinquish external approval, avoid being judgmental, replace
fear-motivated behavior with love-motivated one, nurture positive emotions
and express them freely.
10. Always know the world outside is a reflection of your deeper
intelligence - the real "you" is within.

"You can see that consciousness conceives, constructs, and become matter,
not only in your brain but in the rest of your body, and of course through
your body you experience the Universe. Before you actually have any
perception of the Universe, it too is a radically ambiguous and
ceaselessly flowing quantum soup. It has no material existence other than
in your consciousness. Without your consciousness, it would be an energy
and information soup." - Deepak Chopra, M.D.

~TIPS TO LIVE A BALANCED LIFE ~

Tips to LIVE a Well Balanced Life:

It seems like we constantly seek for quick fixes and ways to mask the symptoms so we can keep on going, not losing an ounce of PRODUCTIVITY. It seems we have forgotten the Wisdom of the ages that good health is not just the absence of disease, but involves healthy lifestyle, healthy mental attitude, and healthy ways of relating to all living beings and nature.
  1. Take care of and nurture yourself. You cannot accomplish anything if you're unhealthy. Get plenty of rest, exercise and eat properly. Many people think they can burn the candle at both ends, eat junk food, get very little exercise, and still function efficiently. You may be able to get away with this for sometime, but at some point you will fall. Burnout is a possibility. You may want to set aside time everyday for an activity that you enjoy, such as walking , working out, spiritual connection or listening to music. Or, allow yourself to unwind by reading, meditating or taking a nice hot bath.
  2. Know what your priorities are.
Balance doesn't mean do everything you can. Examine your values and decide what's important to you, then set your boundaries. You may be in the process of building a career, starting a family or going to school. Depending on what stage you're at in your life, your focus and energies will be different. Try not to become overwhelmed by juggling too many big projects in your life at once. Maybe planning a wedding is not a good idea when you're studying for the bar exam. Nor,is starting a family when you are unsure about your career direction, or relationship status. Not knowing what you want and trying to do everything at once can be a recipe for disaster instead of the road to leading a well balanced life. Try not to bite off more than you can chew.

  3. Create an efficient mindset.
Be organized and plan ahead. Take time at the beginning of each week to assess what needs to be done. Make a to-do list for upcoming appointments, exams to write or study for, or meetings to attend, exercise time, shopping lists etc. Be sure to assign recreation and quality time for yourself and your family as well. Taking time to connect with family and friends will recharge your batteries and make you more efficient. A balance means to always do what you need to do and what you should do for yourself and to enjoy others, while maintaining organization and not over scheduling it.

  4. Expect the unexpected.
Rather than get stressed and upset, allow yourself to roll with the punches when something you have no control over happens. Stuff happens. We've all experienced the unexpected. If you accept that anything can happen at any time, it's less likely it throw you off your stride when it does. Be able to adjust your game plan. Analyze, look for solutions, Modify and Accept it with Positivity.
Also there will be times when achieving balance may not be possible. For instance, You may have circumstances that cannot wait and it takes a lot of your time. When that happens, do whatever it takes and when things go back to normal take time to refresh and rejuvenate yourself.
  5. Maintain a positive mental attitude.
Begin each day with the intention of making the best and most of it. It may not always go as planned, but it can go more smoothly if you put it in Perspective. Part of living a well-balanced life is learning how to deal with adversity, unforeseen events and uncertainty. If you practice not letting things get to you, you will not only learn to live a well balanced and less stressful life, you will learn to live in and savor the MOMENTS. Once you've done everything you can within your control, let your life unfold. Be prepared for the future, but don't worry about it. “The secret of health for both mind and body is not to mourn for the past, not to worry about the future, or not to anticipate troubles, but to live the present moment wisely and earnestly.”  ~Siddartha Guatama Buddha
While we can't anticipate and plan for everything in our lives, we can decide how, where and when to concentrate our energies. This may require some critical thinking and problem solving, but in the end it will lead to much less stress and a well balanced life.
